Practical Applications of Anthroposophical Education

“What seems to us today to be but a reminiscence from the early twentieth century, is possibly an educational element of the future.” 

One of the things Steiner was clear about when he formed the first Waldorf School was that this was to be a place where all children could be met. To this end he was clear that Curative Eduction was to be part of Waldorf Education. Over time the two have separated, to the detriment of the work with the children. We have now reached the “future” Steiner was referring to; it’s time to bring things back together, and unite and deepen our pedagogy.

This course will be offered as a support to all teachers who would like to become comfortable and familiar with the intentions of Curative Education and learn to weave these intentions seamlessly into the rest of the work relating to Steiner’s pedagogy. How do we bring everything we do to the children in a way that makes each activity a healing activity? How do we penetrate Steiner’s intentions with the curriculum so deeply that it becomes living in us and we can work out of it intuitively, fluidly and creatively. This means we need to go beyond learning “methods.”

We will be working through some of the more lesser known pedagogical books of Rudolf Steiner, looking towards furthering our understanding and simultaneously integrating into this understanding the deepening aspects of Curative Education. In addition we will be looking at all aspects of the curriculum and the daily classroom activities through this lens Steiner referred to as “ the educational element of the future.”

This class will meet twice a month, for an hour each session. The course can be taken on its own, or in conjunction with the Curative Training I offer.
